Video Poker is a beloved game that can be played in casinos around the globe, or in your house on your computer, using a net account. The game rules are very straightforward and consist of the player attempting to achieve the best combination of cards possible in order to acquire money. In this respect it is much the same as a regular game of poker, apart from the interaction with other players. Of course, techniques used in a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be useless here.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the bettor inserts credits (whether it is tokens, credit slips or money) into the machine and pushes the draw button. A five card hand will be "handed out" on the screen.
The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and gamblers should now pick which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they want, whether it is all or none.
After the player has chosen which cards she wishes to retain, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards will be needed they will be given out. The game is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the pay out schedule.
Typically, the minimum winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the pay out schedule can change from game to game, so that discerning gamblers are able to select the most profitable ones each time.
After the first round has finished, the player can either decide to continue on and try to to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that have been won. Further, some styles of the game give the player an opportunity to increase their wins, in which case another round is played. There are also differences among individual games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other differing characteristics to enhance playability.
