Video Poker is a favored game that usually will be bet on in casinos across the world, or in your house on your personal computer, using a web connection. The regulations are very simple and consist of the player attempting to achieve the best combination of cards possible in order to acquire money. In this respect it is very similar as a normal game of poker, apart from the line of contact with other players. Of course, methods used in a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless here.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the gambler inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the machine and presses the draw button. A hand of five cards will be "distributed" on the screen.
The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and gamblers will need to now choose which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the bettor would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they want, whether it is all or none.
After the player has chosen which cards he wishes to keep, they should press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards will be handed out if desired. The game is now finished, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.
Generally, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the pay out schedule can change from machine to machine, so that experienced enthusiasts are agile enough to select the most profitable game every time.
After the first round has finished, the player can either choose to continue on and try to to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that they may have won. Further, a few versions of the game allow the gambler a chance to increase their profits, in which situation a further hand is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying aspects to enhance playability.
