Electronic Poker is a popular game that usually will be wagered on in casinos around the world, or alternatively at your house on your PC, through a web connection. The regulations are very straightforward and consist of the player trying to achieve the highest assemblage of cards possible in order to win money. In this respect it’s much the same as a regular game of poker, without the involvement with any other players. Of course, techniques employed during a physical game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless here.
The game of Video Poker begins when the enthusiast inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the video poker machine and presses the play button. A five card hand will then be electronically ‘distributed’ on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has hold buttons, and enthusiasts should now decide which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the player wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.
After the gambler has decided on which cards he or she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any new cards will be given out if desired. The round is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the payout schedule.
Typically, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the payout schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that experienced players are agile enough to pick the most money-making game each and every time.
Once the initial round has played out, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that they may have won. Additionally, a few versions of the game give the enthusiast an opportunity to increase their wins, in which case another round is played. There are also variations between specific games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other varying aspects to increase playability.
