Electronic Poker is a popular game that usually will be gambled on in casinos across the globe, or in your house on your PC, using an Internet connection. The regulations are absolutely simple and consist of the player trying to get the highest combination of cards achievable in order to come away with cash. In this respect it’s very similar as a normal game of poker, apart from the line of contact with competing players. Of course, methods employed during a physical game of poker, like bluffing, will be useless here.
The game of Video Poker begins when the gambler inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the play button. A hand of 5 cards will then be electronically ‘handed out’ on the screen.
The Video Poker game also has hold buttons, and players will need to now choose which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the bettor would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.
After the gambler has selected which cards he or she would like to keep, they should press ‘deal’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be needed they will be handed out. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payout schedule.
Typically, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the pay out schedule can range from machine to machine, so that experienced gamblers are agile enough to select the most profitable game each time.
After the first round has completed, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that has been won. Additionally, a few styles of the game give the player an opportunity to increase their profits, in which case a further hand is played. There are also differences among specific games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing characteristics to increase playability.
