Video Poker is a popular game that is able to be wagered on in casinos throughout the world, or alternatively at home on your PC, through a web account. The game rules are very simple and involve the player trying to achieve the greatest combination of cards as you can in order to acquire money. In this respect it is very similar as a regular game of poker, minus the interaction with any other players. Of course, tactics used in a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the player inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and pushes the draw button. A 5 card hand will be "distributed" on the screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and bettors should now pick which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the bettor would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the bettor has selected which cards she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards are handed out if desired. The round is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payout schedule.
Generally, the lowest succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the pay out schedule can vary from game to game, so that skillful enthusiasts are agile enough to pick the most profitable ones each time.
Once the first round has played out, the player can either choose to remain on and try to to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that they may have won. Further, a few styles of the game give the enthusiast a chance to increase their winnings, in which situation another game is played. There are also variations among specific machines, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying aspects to increase playability.
